This collection draws inspiration from the opera singer Maria Callas, a woman of boundless vocal and emotional range who strove to break free from the rigid boundaries imposed on her by society and the stage. The expectation to conform to a narrow framework, both musically and in physical beauty standards, ultimately led to a drastic transformation that compromised her voice and career.
Her journey became the catalyst for a deeply personal concept: the refusal to diminish oneself or hide one's true capabilities simply to make others feel comfortable. This collection serves as an unapologetic statement on taking up space and claiming full visibility.
A major visual influence on this concept is Peter Moore’s 1967 photograph, Inverse Panoramic Portrait of any Human Subject. Translating his technique into design, the garments capture all angles—front, profile, and back—simultaneously within a single frontal perspective. Through this approach, I confront the viewer with every dimension of Callas and of myself, giving form to a full, unrestrained presence that refuses to be squeezed into comfortable boxes.
