Menswear project

The theme of this course was to design an outfit inspired by a cultural icon. I chose Israeli sculptor Yitzhak Danziger, whose work symbolizes for me the ethos of Israeli art I grew up with. My project began with his iconic 1939 sculpture “Nimrod”, representing a rooted man connected to his land. Later in his career, Danziger explored subjects of ecology and the damaged relationship between humans and nature. Inspired by this, I examined the contrast between the traditional farmer, the “myth” of the man of the land, and the modern agriculturalist, the biologist, who grows fruits and vegetables in lab conditions. My design seeks to rediscover the connection between man and nature while embracing technological innovation and exploring the image of the "modern farmer".
